the quarter here has finally started to pick up and now, with a lull in the workload, i feel a little lost and out of it. trying to make time for everyone is much easier when there is just less time. In photographic terms, Griffin and i finally turned in our RAF online campaign, and it looked pretty sweet. the crit was a little lousy, with most of the comments being positive, and a few suggestions for reworking parts of the design and the type. Today we get our newest project, and then its back into the fray on monday (taking a climbing trip break this weekend to New Paltz).

Technical Photography

working on print a book for Imaging Systems, and learning a lot about how to successfully output books through indesign/HP laser printers. Somehow i'm very impressed with the image quality coming out of hp, and incredibly surprised how hard automated double sized printing is! took me about 30 minutes of testing to figure it out. Just entered into my first online photo contest! at the suggestion of my room-mates, i entered the current PDN EDU contest. We'll see how it goes!

Why the fuck shoot olympus

there is no good reason! i've been using their cameras unwillingly for the past few weeks for an underwater photo class. they are the only things we have with housings so we have to make due. after using nikon and phase exclusively for a few years now, i have gotten accustom to intuitive camera design and universal file formats. welcome to olympus where the camera layout sucks and the software is slower than dirt! (the file formats force you to use olympus proprietary software...bitches)

researching OLED monitors for class. they are pretty confusing, specially cause i don't have a degree in electrical engineering, like the guys building them do!

Just got a bunch of phones for photo shoot this week. I'll try and post some in progress stuff when we start shooting!

freelance and school

i got contacted again this morning by a company i did some work for last winter. Coyote Motor-sports is a pretty small operation, but they are good guys and its fun to work with them. Its been a good learning experience for me in terms of how to deal with clients and how to sell myself to business types. I'm slowly realizing that i need to be more proactive as the first quarter of this year comes to a close. Not that its been a waste, but i was hoping to have produced more work. Next quarter will need to be a flurry of activity!

so i decided to try out this photo blog thing, for like the third time! hopefully i'll figure out soon how to export it to my website, but until then, we'll just see. i'm gonna keep it low key for a bit, see if i can deal with posting every day, and if so, i'll put it up for the world to find!

i want to use this space to talk about what i'm doing, and hopefully as a dual motivational tool so that i feel a reason to keep doing more work. just posting musings and random photos!
